Garage Restaurant & Cafe, 99 7th Ave S, NY NY 10014, USA

99 7th Ave S, NY NY 10014

The food was lovely, the wait staff helpful, the jazz a tad too loud, but otherwise nice place. However, don't pay your bill when it's first presented if you intend to sit around and maybe have another drink or just chat with your guests. Once we paid the bill, they could care less what happened to us. We ordered more drinks, our waitress was about to place the order and the manager stopped her, telling us about their 2 hour long wait at the door. He indicated if we intended to stay for drinks to do it at the bar [as if there was room for 11 there]! They were rude, unaccomodating, and didn't care that we had a reservations, while others didn't! Attitude like that at those prices are simply unacceptable. Their attitude was simply, "ok, we got your money, now move on along, buddy!" so we've decided this would go into our "two-rule book of visits" - first and last!!!

Greenleaf, 49 N Main, Ashland, Oregon, U.S.A.

49 N Main, Ashland, Oregon, U.S.A.

We chose this place for our pre Twelth Night play meal. The play was great, good acting, very funny, great costumes. The cafe has creek side seating and also an upstairs balcony as well as inside seating. It is very busy at that time but the service was friendly and quick. M did not care for the atmosphere of the place. They have a nice selection of salads, some greek dishes mostly fish and chicken.

Harbor View Grotto, 150 Starfish Way, Crescent City, Ca, U.S.A.

150 Starfish Way, Crescent City, Ca, U.S.A.

M and I were heading back to California from Oregon through a smoke filled highway from a forest fire. We were happy to reach the enormous redwoods and cooler coast. You can't visit the coast without trying the seafood, although we eat so much fish and beef we are growing fins and hooves. The Grotto has a view of the ocean although we were put in seats facing the trailer park. We had clam chowder to start very good, home made, green salad ordinary and M had the steak and prawns with fries.

Black Bear, 1795 South Main, Eureka, Ca., U.S.A.

1795 South Main, Yreka, Ca., U.S.A.

M and I have gone to several Black Bear's in the past and always enjoyed the food. We had forgotten that we stopped at this place last year and had to wait 1 hour for our meal, this time it happened again. The waitress was very sorry about it and gave me a consolation brownie. M had the roast beef sandwich and fries and I had the shrimp salad. The portions are huge, the food basic, filling but ordinary.

Wild Goose, 2365 Ashland St, Ashland, Oregon, U.S.A.

2365 Ashland St, Ashland, Oregon, U.S.A.

M and I revisited this cafe for breakfast this time. They have lighter portions which I like, but was actually quite a lot, one egg, home fries with onions and green peppers and a huge homemade buttermilk biscuit. M had chicken fried steak with hash browns and eggs, wheat toast, this always makes me imagine a happy chicken in the kitchen cooking away. They still have a good selection of home baked goods, friendly service and reasonable prices.

Azteca, 2345 Ashland St, Ashland, Oregon, U.S.A.

2345 Ashland St, Ashland, Oregon, U.S.A.

Another Mexican chain in the Northwest U.S.A. We all love the atmosphere in Mexican restaurants very colorful and cheery, the air filled with that wonderful aroma of spicy food and happy music. This place was no exception. We had a bit of problem with our server who had very little English well I have very little Spanish so why should I complain? M had a combination dish of tamales, enchilada and taco all shredded beef with refried beans, and Mexican rice.

Briggs, 4722 E 2nd Street, Long Beach, CA, U.S.A.

4722 E 2nd Street Long Beach CA

One of the worst dining experierince ever! I was at the restaurant with 7 friends including my husband on New Years Eve 2005. We ordered several items to share (which is the theme of the restaurant) among our orders were two of their grilled sirloin steaks with chimichurri sauce. When asked for one of the plates to be prepared medium well (not a fan of rare meat) the food serve rolled her eyes and then walked away only to return a few minutes later to inform me the chief refuses to cook my order medium well! Astonishing! I did not ask for something off the menu or for something to be specially prepared, I ask for steak cooked medium well yet was treated horribly. I have eaten in some of the finest restaurants around the world and I have never experienced anything quite like Biggs, The Chief should remember that he is preparing the food for customers and not joining them for dinner. Save you dinning experience for restaurants who know how to treat their guests, Briggs fails miserably! Vargagirl

RAGE - RJ's Rib Joint, 2515 Riverside Houston, TX.77004, U.S.A. 713-521-9601

2515 Riverside Houston, TX.77004

My most recent visit to RJ’s Friday, April 23, 2004 went something like this: After a long day at the office, I came in for a late dinner (8:24pm) exhausted, and hungry. Upon entering I noticed what looked to be a private party. After standing at the front of the restaurant and no one acknowledging my presence, I proceeded to walk to the back to inquire about a seat. I was assumed to be a part of the party initially which explained the inattentiveness of the staff. After clarifying that I was not with the party and wanted to dine in I was given a seat and my order was taken. There I sat with my glass of lemonade waiting for my order of Baby Back Ribs.

P J Clarkes, 915 Third Avenue @ 55th Street - New York, U.S.A.

915 Third Avenue @ 55th Street - NY

It's that time of year when - if the flights are cheap enough - some people head to New York for the shopping. But what do you do when you have finished taking advantage of the plunging dollar?
